Saint Luke’s Granville will hold their annual Blessing of the Back Packs on August 25th at their 10:00 AM service to kick-off the school year. They’ll use this liturgy:
Blessing of the Backpacks
All students are invited to gather around the altar to receive a blessing.
Celebrant: These backpacks gathered around the altar remind us that a new school year is beginning. Holy God, bless these backpacks and all the students who use them. Help all students to discover and develop their gifts and strengths. Remind them that whatever their gifts, they are doing your work when they care for others; when they do their best in their studies and other activities; when they respect others and themselves; and when they contribute, even in small ways, to make the world better for others. In Jesus’ name we pray.
Celebrant: We all are called to support, encourage, and pray for the students, teachers and school professionals who are members of our community. We are called to be teachers and learners with them – to teach the world about God’s love through our actions, and to learn from what others have to teach us.
God, bless all the people gathered here today. Let each person feel loved and supported. Grant us the wisdom and will to meet each other’s needs throughout the coming year. We ask this all, Lord, knowing that you love and hear us.
