Please submit as many pieces as you’d like, but be aware that we may only pick one or two pieces for the show. We will try to accommodate pieces of any size in the show. The arrangement of the show will be handled by the gallery, although artists are welcome to make suggestions about where their work should hang. Paintings and photographs are hung on the walls, using a hanging system. Hanging fixtures on the backs of pieces should be able to accommodate this (we recommend using wire). If an artist wants their work to hang flat, they are responsible for bringing tools that can drill into concrete walls. We will be creating a chapbook to go with the show, and will therefore need pieces to photograph by February 8th. Alternatively, artists are welcome to provide high quality .jpegs of their own work and then bring the painting or photo to the gallery during the week of February 23rd. The gallery will be open from 11:00 – 2:00, Sunday-Friday. Artists who want to write poems, essays, or fiction pieces to accompany their work should submit them, by e-mail, by February 8th. Please use .doc or .rtf files for submitting. The essays will appear in the accompanying chapbook. If artists also want written pieces to hang next to their works, we will try to accommodate them, but may be prevented from doing so by space considerations. We will be holding a reading of written works in the gallery on Saturday, March 8th, and may add an additional reading later in March to accommodate writers and artists who are unable to attend the first event. Permission must be gained from the artist for any use of visual or written works outside of the confines of the show. If the EASE gallery wishes to use an artist’s work for promotional purposes or online display, permission from the artist must be attained prior to use.
These photographs should give you some idea of what the gallery looks like. You are also welcome to stop in and see the current show during gallery hours, Sunday-Friday, 11:00 – 2:00.
