Welcome,<\/p>\n

I was hired as Campus Minister at Hocking College at the end of August and began the next week as we welcomed our first year students during our “Smart Start” week\u00a0were simple:<\/p>\n

\n
1. To\u00a0discover who was already involved in ministry and to enable them in any way possible\u00a0(Such as, students, college staff, and local church church leaders, etc.)<\/li>\n
2. To find those who were interested in getting involved at some point in our ministry.<\/li>\n
3. To determine what areas or student groups were not being discipled to.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

   What I found was a dedicated group of people called “I-Fuel” who were ministering every Sunday night by providing food, fellowship, worship and discipleship to our students. I also found a dedicated group of students meeting on Tuesday evenings for bible study and discipleship and meeting again on Thursday night, combining with Ohio University students for worship, testimony and music (“CRU”).<\/p>\n

   Since that time we have reached out to our natural resource students to establish two new outreach groups, one in the morning and one in the early evening.<\/p>\n

   Just a few additional areas are:<\/p>\n

   \n
   • A food pantry ministry involving a cooperative effort with administration, culinary arts, nursing and local community volunteers initiated by Campus Ministry.<\/li>\n
   • A monthly game night and a movie event that the students are really taking ownership.<\/li>\n
   • A school sponsored Thanksgiving dinner, initiated by Campus Ministry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

     There are still many areas and groups to be reached and discipled to. Outreach and community service teams working in many areas such as nature trails, exercise groups, and music and cultural events.<\/p>\n

     Obviously, I am just getting started. But I am excited as staff, students, and community groups join forces to minister together to some of the greatest college age young people I have ever met.<\/p>\n
